Party Hints for Younger Children
P lan twice as many activities as you think you will need.
A void elimination games. Musical chairs, hot potato, etc. work best for older children.
R ecruit plenty of adult help and give them specific tasks.
T hink about the environment. Young children are often better off in playrooms rather than living rooms; outdoors rather than indoors. If renting a room, make sure it is kid friendly.
Y ou would be wise to have a back-up plan in case of rain, or if an entertainer doesn't show up, or a planned game fails.
H ave plenty of food available, including things like bowls of fish crackers, hunks of cheese, pieces of fruit.
I n advance, decide if siblings are welcome, if parents are invited or required to stay.
N ever have dead space. Have several activities going on at once. Try blowing bubbles, face painting, balloon sculpting, a craft, or make your own pizza.
T iming is everything. Keep it short and avoid planning the party for nap time or meal times.
S tay cool! Have fun and enjoy this time in your child's life.
